Join Us for the Florida Rose of Tralee Selection Night

You’re invited to an evening of music, dance, fun, and laughter! There will be a presentation of the Irish American Young Leaders and the 2017 Florida Rose will be selected. A Rose reflects the intelligence, compassion, and independence of modern Irish women. Over the years, the Rose that represents Florida has mirrored a changing Ireland, and the definition of Irishness that is celebrated by so many different people around the world. Roses have come to reflect the widening of Irish borders and the embracing of our global diaspora in a positive and refreshing way. The woman picked will have the honor to represent the State and Country at a variety of affairs during their year. The candidates will promote their sponsor in every venue and event that takes place.

There will be a special change of the Rose sash presented by 2016 Florida Rose, Sheena Kelly, who will be celebrating her year as the Florida Rose at the International Festival in Kerry, Ireland. We will also be honoring Karl Drake, the Irish American Chamber, and all Irish influencers/connectors in Florida and Georgia. There is also a special invite to all dance schools, clubs, groups, businesses, individuals, family, and friends, to help launch the Rose of Tralee organization.

Take A Stand For Irish & American Creative Arts is an independently organized event happening in New York on April 2, 2017. Let’s take a stand for Creative Arts. We were given a challenge and we hope you can help. Creative Ireland initiative is in place in Ireland, backed by the Irish Government. We were given the challenge to create an event and showcase this initiative in America. Let’s come together as one and show how important it is to have funding and support from our government. Step by step we will achieve this goal if all organizations work together. The world is a huge fan of everything in the Arts and the way it is so impressive in the history of Our Culture and the way the music and language brings everyone together in a positive way. We would be so excited if all of you would join us.

Our goal is to educate everyone, through Gaelic language, story telling, art, music and dance, All are invited to participate in this inclusive educational cultural experience, March is Irish Cultural Month, and April is National Storytelling day, we invite all Authors, Writers, Artists, Gaelic speakers, storytellers, actors, singers and dancers to come and share their Heritage. We would love this to go viral in the tri-state area and beyond and we want to open it up to a wider diverse audience to share our culture through poetry, stories, language, art, history, music and dance. Engage students with our diverse range of traditional, world/multi-cultural, and popular music. We want to inspire a love of the Gaeltacht, music, art and dance for everyone by giving them this opportunity.

St. Patrick’s Day Celebration by The Ireland Funds Young Leaders a Success

Colin Quinn

Colin Quinn

Last week, The Ireland Funds honored Colin Quinn as their Irish Spirit Honoree. Quinn kicked off the night with a hilarious speech about the Irish that had Quinn’s classic “tell it like it is” style, and the audience clearly wasn’t afraid to laugh at their own cultural characteristics.

After that, the auction began that was fundraising money for a new Irish Arts Center. The new Irish Arts Center will contain a purpose-built, state-of-the-art contemporary performance space for music, dance and theatre seating up to 160; industry-standard back of house and support facilities to allow artists to achieve their vision. There will also be a second, intimate performance space – the renovated historic Irish Arts Center theatre – optimized for live music, literature, film, talks, large classes and special events. Classrooms and a studio space will be built for community education programs in Irish music, dance, language, history, the humanities, and for master classes and workshops by visiting and resident artists. It will also include technology capability to project the Irish Arts Center experience on the digital platform, an avenue-facing café lobby to engage with the neighborhood and provide a social setting for conversation and interaction between artists and audiences. A beautiful new courtyard entrance on 51st Street will also be built where the historic Irish Arts Center building and the new facility meet. The auction included items given by special guest two time Super Bowl champion NY Giants player, David Diehl. Other VIP guests included: Dean Winters, Jared Jeffries, John Duddy, Colin Broderick, and Paul Costsbile.

The rest of the night was filled with great entertainment by The Dane Wright Band, who kept the crowd on the dance floor for the whole event, who returned by popular demand from last year. After the success of last night, it makes everyone at The Ireland Funds excited for next year!
